Nail extensions vs fill: which do you need at Charlesbourg?

A full set is what you need if you have never had nail extensions before or if your previous set has been removed. A fill is the right appointment if your existing extensions are in good shape and three to four weeks have passed since your last visit.

Which should you choose?

At Ongles Charlesbourg on boulevard Henri-Bourassa, our technicians welcome clients at every stage of their nail journey — first-timers, regulars who have worn gel for years, and everything in between. Here is a clear breakdown of both services so you can book with confidence. A full set is your starting appointment. Your technician prepares the natural nail surface, applies a tip extension if desired, and then covers the nail with gel or acrylic depending on your preference. She shapes the length and arch, smooths the surface, and finishes with your chosen colour or design. A full set appointment typically takes between 90 and 120 minutes. A full set is also recommended when your previous set is more than five weeks old or too damaged to repair — starting fresh protects your natural nails and ensures the best result. A fill is your regular maintenance visit. As your natural nail grows, a gap appears at the base of each extension. Your technician fills that gap with fresh product, re-curves each nail, and refreshes the colour. A fill takes between 60 and 90 minutes and should be scheduled every three to four weeks. Waiting longer than five weeks before a fill increases the risk of the product lifting or breaking, which can damage the natural nail underneath. Not sure which service you need? Our technicians assess your nails on arrival at our Henri-Bourassa salon and tell you exactly what they recommend. No appointment necessary — walk-ins are always welcome at Ongles Charlesbourg.
